Sometimes, we have to alter our services during very hot weather. This can mean a change to service provision and/or speed restrictions put in place to minimise stressing of the rails. Click here to find out more.
Network Rail and Southern would like to apologise for the disruption to East Coastway services yesterday evening.
The disruption was caused by an electrical fault that led to a loss of the high voltage power supply to the railway in the Eastbourne area. Network Rail engineers found faults at Plumpton and Selmeston substations, and the power supply was restored by 2100.
Southern did its best to keep passengers moving by sourcing replacement buses between Lewes, Eastbourne and Seaford for those affected by the fault, but we appreciate that it was a difficult time for passengers trying to get home and we apologise for the considerable disruption that was caused.
