Reduced service on some Southern routes

Southern services continue to be severely affected by a high level of conductor and driver sickness. This is leading to a much reduced service on a number of routes. A change of train en-route may be required for some journeys.

We will update live departure boards and the journey planner at nationalrail.co.uk with service amendments as soon as they are known.

Rail tickets are being accepted on bus services operated by Brighton and Hove buses between Shoreham and Brighton (Route 2) and between Brighton and Eastbourne via Seaford (Route 12) and on bus services operated by Metrobus between Redhill and Reigate, Southern only ticket holders may also travel with Great Western Railway on train services between Redhill and Reigate.

 
 

 

RMT strike information

No further strikes have currently been announced, but please visit our RMT strike customer advice page, which includes more information about the times of trains, ticket acceptance and alternatives in the event of another strike, and information on compensation and refunds for the previous strikes.

Modernising our stations and on-board customer service

At some of our stations, where sales from ticket offices are low, we want to bring staff out from behind the windows and on to the concourse to work where they’re needed most. Find out more here.

We are also looking to improve customer service on board our trains and improve our service reliability, so we are proposing a new role of On-Board Supervisor. Find out more here.
