Founded in 1893, Sussex County Cricket club is England’s oldest county club and is the world’s oldest first class cricket club. The team plays at four grounds around the county: Arundel, Eastbourne, Horsham and Hove – the official county ground. Sussex CCC has won the County Championship three times in 2003, 2006, and 2007, and won the Pro4- League in both 2008 and 2009.
On Sunday 8th July, I travelled with my dad to see the cricket at Hove. We travelled by train from Seaford to Brighton where we changed trains to get to Hove. I gave 5/5 for both trains because we got seats and they were both dead on time!
When we got to Hove cricket club we first went to find the boundary room, which I thought looked like a hut but it was very nice and comfortable. At 2:40pm the match was meant to start but as the players came out it started to pour down with rain… so everyone crowded into the boundary room!
When the rain stopped I rushed outside to get our seat again. The match started at about 3:35pm and Sussex got 104 runs in 9 overs. The rain kept coming down and we had to go back indoors, but not too much later the players were back on the pitch and it was Surrey’s turn to bat. Surrey ended up needing 62 runs off 5 overs but luckily they got 64 runs and won!
There are lots of eating places so we had some chips, a hotdog and a hot chocolate. They were all lovely! The whole day was BRILLIANT! PHENOMENAL! FANTASTIC! 5/5
“Southern Railway is a great way to travel for a really relaxing day. No driving or parking hassles. Straight on, straight through, no worries.”
