London Bridge bus station to close again this coming weekend

Date: 02 May 2011

Part of Borough High Street near London Bridge station will be closed on the weekend of Friday 6th May from 23.00 to 05.00 on Monday 9th May to allow the completion of the placement of Borough viaduct as part of the Thameslink programme works.

Network Rail is carrying out various works on Borough High Street and the surrounding side streets which will affect the operation of the bus station

Both sets of front station doors will be open throughout the work and pedestrians will still be able to access the station front via Station Approach. However there will be no access for buses, taxis or private vehicles.

Southbound, all bus routes other than bus route 17 will be on diversion from Monument. The 17 will be the only service coming across London Bridge and passengers will alight on the southern stop on London Bridge. Northbound, all services will pick up from the northbound southern stop on London Bridge.

Routes 343, 381 and RV1 will not serve Borough High Street or Tooley Street and will pick up the normal line of route down by Borough Tube Station.

All northbound buses will be on diversion via St Thomas Street, Stainer Street, Tooley Street and Duke Street Hill but it will not affect stopping arrangements.

Southbound the 17, 43 and 48 will serve the southbound stop on London Bridge before turning and utilise existing stand space in the local area.

Routes 149 and 141 will be on diversion from Monument and will not serve London Bridge southbound although they will pick up northbound from London Bridge.

Southbound routes that do not use the bus station are unaffected (Routes 21, 35, 40, 133, 33, 381 and RV1).

There will be a temporary taxi rank located in Tooley Street.

Additional staff will be in place in and around the station over the weekend to assist passengers requiring onward travel by public transport and taxis, and will help passengers who need mobility assistance.
