"The purpose of the Board is to ensure Southern's decisions and business practice properly take into account the interests, aspirations and concerns of stakeholders."
The Southern Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) was formed to promote a better understanding of customers and of problems encountered by Southern employees and their management. The SAB first met in February 2003.
The Board includes six passengers who have applied from different parts of the network to represent passengers' views and one member who represents disabled users, who is also a frequent user of Southern services. Three staff representatives provide feedback from employees. See a full list of the current SAB members.
The Board is chaired by Chris Burchell, Managing Director of Southern. Franchise Improvement Director, David Scorey and Head of Corporate Relations, Jane Lee also sit on the board. Frances Cawley is the Board Secretary.
The Stakeholder Advisory Board is the formal way for our passengers and staff to have a role in the management of the company.

How we help
The voluntary board exists to review, feed back and help drive policy at a senior level within Southern.
Meeting once every two months the Board choose to discuss at least one major issue affecting the company at each meeting. Each major issue is given a SAB sponsor and a Southern sponsor from Southern's senior management.
SAB Youth Project - Makin Tracks
Makin Tracks was the 2011 project to help engage better with our younger passengers by
appealing to their creative nature and get them involved with the railway in a much more positive way. So 14 to 19 year olds were invited to make a music video made about where they live, work, or study on the Southern railway network. Part of the winners prize is that their masterpiece will be posted on YouTube ready to go viral. The competition closed on 22 May and a panel of judges, including Sussex Heart FM's Lynsey Bartlett, selected the winners. The final videos has now been launched on our YouTube site www.southernrailway.com/makintracks - so do check them out!
