New deal

New Deal is a Government programme that aims to give unemployed people the help and support they need to get back into work, including preparing for work and training.

If you have a New Deal photocard you can get the following tickets at discounted rates:

  • 50% Off Anytime Day, Off-Peak Day (including Off-Peak Day Travelcards), Weekly, Monthly and longer period Season Tickets and Travelcards (up to a maximum of 3 months)
  • 50% off Oyster pay as you go (PAYG) fares

How to get your New Deal photocard:

You must apply for a New Deal photocard through your local Job Centre or Social Security Office. Once you have your photocard, you can get an Oyster card at Tube stations, London Travel information Centres and Oyster Ticket Shops. You will need to show your New Deal photocard when you apply for your Oyster card, so that your New Deal concession can be put on the card to ensure that you get child-rate tickets.

For further information on the New Deal programmes available, please follow the links below:

New Deal cards are only issued through Jobcentre Plus offices and are NOT issued at stations.

The blue New Deal cards will be valid for discounted travel from Sunday 5 October 2008 onwards.

Any customers travelling with an expired green or yellow New Deal card on or after Sunday 4 January 2009 will be charged the relevant excess and/or penalty fare.
