Young Persons Travel - Oyster Photocard
Zip is the name for the Oyster photocards, which allows young people to travel on London transport. The cards that are available are as follows:
5-10 year olds- 11-15 year olds
- 16+ Half rate travel
- 16+ Oyster photocards
5-10 Oyster photocard
All 5-10 year olds can apply for a 5-10 Oyster photocard.
This card entitles the holder to travel free on buses, trams, Tube, DLR and London Overground services at any time. If they are travelling unaccompanied on Tube, DLR and London Overground services, 5 -10 year olds will have to pay the half-adult fare.
11-15 Oyster photocard
All 11-15 year olds can apply for a 11-15 Oyster photocard.
This card entitles the holder to travel free on buses and trams and at a child-rate on Tube, DLR and London Overground services. 11-15 Oyster photocard holders can also buy child-rate 7 Day, monthly or longer-period Travelcards.
16+ Oyster Photocard
All 16 and 17 year olds and some 18 year olds can apply for a 16+ Oyster Photocard.
It will allow holders to buy 7 Day, monthly or longer Travelcards within the London Fare Zone area at half the adult fare and Pay as You Go fares at half the adult-rate on the Underground, DLR and London Overground.
Holders can also travel free or at half the adult-rate on London's buses and trams. 16-17 year olds who do not have an Oyster photocard pay adult-rate fares.
If you are applying for free bus and tram travel:
You must get your school or college to sign your application form. This can't be done before you have started your course for the current academic year.
Take proof that you live within a London borough to the Post Office with the completed application form. This can be a utility bill, council tax bill or driving licence. These can be in your parent or guardian's name, but must be for the same address as your application. Mobile phone bills will not be accepted as proof of address.
18 year olds who meet the correct criteria can also apply for a 16+ Oyster photocard. Please see the Transport for London website for terms and conditions.

If you live outside London you can apply for a 16+ Oyster photocard, which allows you to travel at half adult-rate on buses, the Tube, trams, DLR and London Overground.

Surrey Student Transport Partnership
A student train fare card enables 16 to 18 year old Surrey students attending full-time further education to buy season tickets at half the adult rate for their home to school/college train journey. Season tickets are available for periods of 7 days (minimum), 1 month and between 1 month and 1 year.
Child rate single and return tickets are ONLY available after 16:00hrs and at weekends.
To qualify you must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Live in one of the 11 boroughs / districts of Surrey:
• Elmbridge
• Epsom & Ewell
• Guildford
• MoleValley
• Reigate & Banstead
• Runnymede
• Spelthorne
• SurreyHeath
• Tandridge
• Waverley
• Woking - Attend a full-time further education course and be aged 16 but under 19 on 1 September 2008
- You must start, finish and transfer (via) through selected stations
