Southern have installed new gates around it's network as part of a multi-million pound investment programme to help improve safety and security at each station as well as ensuring that tickets are purchased for travel prior to boarding the trains.

Staff will be on hand when the gates are in operation in order to assist otherwise the gates will be opened whenever they are unmanned.
