Broadband Wi-Fi on the Brighton Express
Over the summer Wi-fi is free! Our Wi-Fi service, provided by T-Mobile, lets passengers enjoy internet access at broadband speeds from their Wi-Fi enabled laptops or PDAs for the whole journey between Brighton to London, even through tunnels.
The service is available on a select number of trains on this route. Refer to the High Speed WiFi Internet Access timetable for information on departure times.
HIGH SPEED WI-FI INTERNET ACCESS TIMETABLE
What is it?
HotSpot is the new T-Mobile wireless internet access service that allows you to use email or the web at broadband speeds on certain Southern trains and stations. Look for the HotSpot signs.
What do I need?
A laptop with Wi-Fi (802.11b) capability. Your existing device may already have the capability built-in, or you can buy a Wi-Fi 802.11b networking card from electronics retailers. You don’t need to be a T-Mobile customer or have an account to use the service immediately.
How do I connect?
-
Turn on your Wi-Fi card and select ‘tmobile’ network (SSID). You may need to set this manually by selecting the following options under Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Wireless Network Connection
-
Ensure the Data encryption (WEP enabled) is not selected (under Wireless Network Properties)
-
Ensure your laptop can ‘Obtain an IP address automatically’ and ‘Obtain DNS server address automatically’ (under General > Internet Protocol > TCP/IP > Properties)
-
Launch your web browser. You should automatically be sent to the T-Mobile log in page
-
If you don’t receive a log in page, verify in the internet browser if any fixed proxy settings have been disabled (under Tools > Conditions > Internet Options > LAN Settings > deselect all boxes)
You may need to restart your device for settings to work.
If you already have a valid pass, just enter the log in and password details to be connected.
If you’d like any further assistance, ask a train steward for a leaflet, call our technical support team on +44 (0)8454 122 526 or check www.t-mobile.co.uk/hotspot.
