How can I buy tickets to travel on Southern services?

What are the DaySave delivery options?

What is DaySave TOD?

How can I buy tickets to travel on Southern services?
You can now buy tickets online with Southern’s online journey planner. Booking your tickets online can save you money on Advance tickets. There are no booking fees and no charges for first class post or Ticket on Departure collection, unlike some other third party retailers who do add these charges. There is also free recorded delivery on any sales over £100.

You can buy tickets from a number of places:

  • You can buy a range of tickets at any manned Southern ticket office
  • If you wish to buy a DaySave ticket which allows up to four people to travel at the same time on one ticket please visit southernrailwaytickets.com/
  • If you are specifically travelling to and from Gatwick Airport please visit www.southernrailway.com/gatwick
  • If you require a season ticket please visit our season tickets page

Do I need to register in order to buy tickets?

Yes. To register with Southern please use the 'My Account' tab at the top of the page. Once registered you will be able to buy national tickets, including season tickets, and you can save money on Advance fares.

If you would like to buy DaySave or Downlander tickets you will need to register at southernrailwaytickets.com

What are the DaySave delivery options?

There are two options available to you:
First class post:
Tickets need to be booked 7 full days before the date of travel. Tickets will be posted to the address as entered in this site, and confirmation of the booking will be emailed. Please ensure you check all your details are correct. For a fee of £1 you can select to have your tickets posted using Recorded Signed For

Ticket on Departure (TOD):
When ordering your ticket you can select this delivery option, allowing you to collect your ticket from the ticket machine at any Southern stations that’s convenient to you.

Please note, that you can only collect your ticket from a Southern station. Follow this link to view the list of Southern Stations with TOD facilities

What is DaySave TOD?
Ticket on Departure allows you to collect your tickets from the ticket machine at a Southern station convenient to you. When you make a booking opting for TOD collection, you will receive an 8 digit/letter reference number via email (you will get a purchase confirmation email immediately after purchasing your ticket, and will then receive another email with your TOD reference). To collect your tickets, you MUST have the credit/debit card you used to make the booking and the booking reference number.

At present it is possible to collect your tickets only from Southern TOD-enabled ticket machines.
