Service Alterations

 

Amended service between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston until further notice

A locomotive became derailed near Bletchley in the early hours of Friday morning. Because of this, there will be an amended service between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston today. There is currently no estimate for the completion of repairs however it is likely services will continue to be affected on Sunday.

A second disruption is affecting this route. Overhead wire problems are causing disruption between Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead.

Journey times for London Midland services may be extended by up to 25 minutes. Souther trains are not running between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction.

Virgin Trains

  • From London, the 20 minutes past each hour train to Manchester Piccadilly will not run. The 43 minutes past each hour train to Birmingham New Street will start from Milton Keynes Central. Other trains will be calling additionally at Milton Keynes for connections.
  • Towards London, the 15 minutes past each hour train from Manchester Piccadilly will not run. The 30 minutes past each hour train from Birmingham New Street will terminate at Milton Keynes Central. Other trains will be calling additionally at Milton Keynes for connections.
  • These alterations are shown in the Journey Planner. Timetables for trains towards London Euston are also available here. Timetables for trains from London Euston are also available here.
  • An amended service will run on Sunday 5 February, details of which are available in the timetable, here


London Midland

  • The 13 minutes past each hour train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston will terminate at Northampton (except for the 17:13, 18:13 & 19:13 trains, which are planned to run through to London).
  • The 13 minutes past each hour train from London Euston to Birmingham New Street will start from Northampton.
  • Alternative train services will be available for customers travelling between London Euston and Northampton in both directions.
  • These alterations are shown in the Journey Planner. Timetables for trains towards London Euston are also available here. Timetables for trains from London Euston are also available here.
  • Trains may also be affected on Sunday 5 February - we're currently awaiting details of the service expected to run and will provide this information as soon as possible


Southern

  • Trains will start / terminate at Watford Junction, so will not run between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction.
  • Passengers should use London Midland services between Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction or Virgin Trains services between Milton Keynes and London Euston. Passengers may also use London Underground on all reasonable routes.
  • These alterations are shown in the Journey Planner.
  • Trains may also be affected on Sunday 5 February - we're currently awaiting details of the service expected to run and will provide this information as soon as possible


Ticket Arrangements

Customers should travel using their booked Virgin Trains or London Midland service however Virgin Trains are accepting London Midland customers between Birmingham and London Euston. Customers with reservations on cancelled services should travel on the same route as close to their booked time as possible.

Virgin Trains passengers who decided not to travel on friday may apply for a full refund from the point of sale, or may use their ticket up to Tuesday 7th February (travelling at the same time as the original reservation where possible - normal peak time ticket restrictions will apply).

Amended service between Fareham / Havant and Portsmouth & Harbour until approximately 09:00

There is a gas leak in the Fratton area.

Because of this, the following alterations will apply until approximately 09:00:

  • A reduced service will run between Havant and London Waterloo departing Havant at 06 & 48 minutes past the hour and departing Waterloo at 00 & 30 minutes past the hour. Passengers can then connect to a train shuttle service between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant departing Portsmouth Harbour at 04:45 and then every 30 minutes
  • Trains between Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo via Eastleigh will start / terminate at Eastleigh where passengers can connect with a train shuttle service between Portsmouth Harbour and Eastleigh departing on the hour from 06:00
  • A train shuttle service will run between Fareham and Southampton
  • Southern services to / from Portsmouth Harbour will start / terminate at Havant, Chicester or Bognor Regis
  • Supplementary buses will run between Portsmouth & Southsea and Havant


First Great Western are no longer affected by this disruption.

Passengers may use local Stagecoach buses between Portsmouth and Cosham. Southern and South West Trains are accepting each others customers on reasonable routes. Passengers may also use First Great Western services on reasonable routes.

Delays to trains through Gatwick Airport until further notice

A signalling problem is causing disruption in the Gatwick Airport area.

Because of this, trains may be delayed by up to 30 minutes. There is no current estimate for when a normal service will resume.

CHARING CROSS UNDERGROUND STATION: Until further notice, the Trafalgar Square entrance of Charing Cross station is closed for escalator replacement work. Please use the main entrance on The Strand (underneath Charing Cross National Rail station)

Waterloo Station Information

WATERLOO UNDERGROUND STATION: Please note that the Shell Centre entrance on York Road does not open on Sundays, please use the Waterloo Road or National Rail station entrances instead.

Central Line Partly Suspended

CENTRAL LINE: Suspended between Leytonstone and Liverpool Street due to a faulty train at Stratford. Severe delays are occurring on the rest of the line.

Oxford Circus Station Information

OXFORD CIRCUS STATION: Reduced escalator service until early February.

Bond Street Station Information

BOND STREET STATION: Reduced escalator service until mid-May.

Holborn Station Information

HOLBORN STATION: Reduced escalator service until further notice. During escalator works, entry to the station may be temporarily restricted at busy times to prevent overcrowding.

Multiple Stations Information

BANK / MONUMENT STATION: Until late April 2012 there is no 'down' escalator service between Monument station and the DLR platforms at Bank. Access to the DLR will be via two sets of fixed stairs and a subway link. This route is not suitable for those with luggage or pushchairs. Please use either the step-free lift from King William Street to the DLR platforms or take the District line to Tower Hill and then change there for the DLR from Tower Gateway.

Central Line Partly Suspended

CENTRAL LINE: Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February, no service between Hainault and Woodford via Chigwell. Rail replacement buses operate.

FARRINGDON UNDERGROUND STATION: Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February, closed.

COVENT GARDEN STATION: Restricted exit at Covent Garden 16 January until mid April. During work to the pavement immediately outside Covent Garden, exit from the station will be very restricted. To avoid delays please use Leicester Square station instead. Leicester Square is approximately 250m away and the walking route to Covent Garden is shown at the station.

Covent Garden Station Information

GOING TO COVENT GARDEN? Covent Garden station gets very busy at weekends and in the evenings, but you can avoid the crowds by walking there from Leicester Square (6 minutes) or Holborn (9 minutes). The short walk is clearly signposted above ground and maps are on display at both stations.

Tottenham Hale Station Information

TOTTENHAM HALE STATION: Reduced escalator service until mid-March.

Oxford Circus Station Information

OXFORD CIRCUS STATION: Reduced escalator service until early February.

King's Cross St.Pancras Station Information

KINGS CROSS ST PANCRAS STATION: Reduced escalator service until early February.

Victoria Line Partly Suspended

VICTORIA LINE: Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February, suspended. Rail replacement buses operate.

Vauxhall Station Information

VAUXHALL STATION: The subway between Vauxhall National Rail station and Underground station is closed for modernisation work by Network Rail until early April 2012. Consequently a one-way system is in place to enter/exit Vauxhall Underground station on weekdays between 0730-0930 and 1600-1900. This involves crossing roads to interchange between the National Rail station and the Underground. To avoid changing at Vauxhall use these alternative routes Travelling to/from central London change between the Underground and National Rail at Waterloo. Travelling to Underground stations west of Earl's Court change at Clapham Junction for London Overground services then change at West Brompton for Underground services. Travelling from Underground stations west of Earl's Court change at West Brompton for London Overground services then change at Clapham Junction for National Rail services.
