Easter 2016

Network Rail will be working on the railway this Easter (25-28 March)

No Southern trains to/from London Victoria from Friday 25 March to Monday 28 March

A major junction renewal at Battersea Park means there will be no Southern service to and from London Victoria from Good Friday 25 March up to and including Easter Monday 28 March. Gatwick Express services will not run at all, although Southern and Thameslink services will run to/from the airport from London Bridge and Blackfriars respectively.

Buses replace trains between Horsham and Arundel from Friday 25 March to Monday 28 March

Essential works to a bridge over the River Arun means rail replacement buses will run between Horsham and Arundel, as the rail line is closed for the weekend, with journey times extended by up to 60 minutes.

Buses replace trains between Woolston and Southampton Central on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March

Buses replace trains between Barnham and Bognor Regis on Sunday 27 March

Buses replace trains between Bexhill, Ore and Ashford International on Sunday 27 March until approximately 13:45

Some additional, smaller sections of work will take place on some of the days (see overview below).

Ticket acceptance on other operators

Southern tickets for reasonable routes will be accepted on the following:

London Midland services between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central

Thameslink services between East Croydon and London Blackfriars

Changes to South West Trains services (Boat Race)
The annual boat race takes place between Putney and Chiswick Bridges from 1500 on 27 March and large crowds are expected.

Due to Network Rail engineering works, South West Train services between Clapham Junction and Barnes will not operate.

There are a number of ways to get to the boat race including:
• Rail Replacement Bus Services from Clapham Junction;
• Scheduled bus services from central London;
• Tube stations in the area will also provide alternative routes to the Boat Race with the following expected to be busier than usual:
