From time to time, often at weekends or public holidays, Southern Railway have to make alterations to train services, usually for planned Improvement works.

Buses replace trains between Eastbourne and Hastings on Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 January

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Pevensey Bay and St Leonards Warrior Square, closing all lines.

Customer Advice:

Buses will replace trains between Eastbourne and Hastings.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Sydenham and Crystal Palace.

Customer Advice:

There will be no London Overground service between Sydenham and Crystal Palace, you should use local buses between these stations. Trains will run additionally between Sydenham and West Croydon until 12:00.

Customers travelling with Southern should use the replacement bus service between Balham and West Croydon via Tulse Hill / Crystal Palace.

Amended late night service between London Victoria and Hastings from Monday 23 until Friday 27 January

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Pevensey and Westham / Bexhill, closing all lines.

The 22:47 London Victoria to Hastings will terminate at Eastbourne, you will be able to continue your journey on the replacement bus service provided.

Amended overnight service between London Victoria and Brighton / Worthing / Eastbourne from Monday 23 to Friday 27 January

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Three Bridges and Haywards Heath, closing all lines.

Customer Advice:

The following trains will terminate / start at Three Bridges:

  • 00:05 London Victoria to Worthing / Eastbourne.
  • 01:00 London Victoria to Brighton.
  • 04:00 London Victoria to Brighton.
  • 03:50 Brighton to London Victoria.

Buses will connect with trains to complete your journey.

A shuttle service will operate at 01:50 from Lewes to Eastbourne, calling at Polegate and Hampden Park.

Buses replace late night trains at Streatham Common from Monday 30 January to Friday 3 February

 

Network Rail are carrying out late night engineering work between Streatham and Sutton, closing some lines.

Customer Advice:

The 23:03 London Victoria to Epsom will not run.

The 23:26 London Victoria to Horsham will be diverted after Balham to call at Streatham Common and Selhurst, then run as booked from Sutton.

A 23:30 replacement bus service will depart Streatham to Sutton calling at Mitcham Eastfields; Mitcham Junction; Hackbridge, Carshalton and Sutton.

A 23:52 replacement bus will run Streatham Common to Horsham calling at Mitcham Eastfields; Mitcham Junction; Hackbridge; Carshalton; Sutton; Cheam; Ewell East; Epsom; Ashtead; Leatherhead; Boxhill; Dorking; Holmwood; Ockley; Warnham and Horsham.

Engineering work is taking place Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour, closing the line.

Customer Advice:

If you are travelling with Great Western Railway, your train will be replaced by a bus between Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour.

If you are travelling to / from Cosham or stations to / from Brighton, you are advised to use alternative trains as some trains to / from Brighton have been cancelled..

If you are travelling on South West Trains, your train will be replaced by a buses between Havant / Cosham and Portsmouth Harbour. A special service will operate between Cosham and Havant, calling at Bedhampton.

If you are travelling on Southern, your train will be replaced by a bus between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between London Bridge and Tulse Hill / New Cross Gate, closing all lines.

Customer Advice:

No train service will operate into / out of London Bridge. A shuttle service will operate between Tulse Hill and East Croydon (via Norwood Junction) calling at Norwood Junction and East Croydon only. A shuttle service will run between Tulse Hill and Tattenham Corner (via Crystal Palace) calling all stations.

A rail replacement bus service will operate between London Bridge and Tulse Hill. Customers fro stations between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction are advised to use London Underground from London Bridge to Canada Water for Overground services between Canada Water to Crystal Palace / West Croydon.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between New Cross Gate and West Croydon, closing all lines between these stations.

Customer Advice:

London Overground between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace / West Croydon

These services will not run. If you intend to travel between these destinations, you may take the bus provided by Southern which will run between London Bridge, New Cross Gate and stations towards Crystal Palace, and then Anerley, Norwood Junction, Selhurst and West Croydon.

Your journey may take approximately 60 minutes longer.

Southern between New Cross Gate and West Croydon (via Sydenham)

These services will not run. Buses will run between London Bridge and West Croydon (via Sydenham and Crystal Palace). If you intend to travel between these destinations, you may take the bus provided.

Southern between London Bridge and Horsham

These services will be diverted to start from London Victoria and will terminate at Gatwick Airport.

Southern between London Bridge and Tonbridge

These services will only operate between Redhill and Tonbridge.

Southern between London Bridge and East Croydon (via Streatham)

These services will be extended to run to Tattenham Corner.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between London Victoria and Clapham Junction.

As a result of this engineering work there will be no Gatwick Express or Southern trains between London Victoria and Clapham Junction.

Southeastern trains are not affected by this engineering work.

From 07:20 until the end of service, Thameslink services will be replaced by buses between Haywards Heath and Brighton.

Southern services will run between Haywards Heath and Brighton via Hove.
