From time to time, often at weekends or public holidays, Southern Railway have to make alterations to train services, usually for planned Improvement works.

Buses replace trains between Dorking and Horsham from 22:00 each night between Monday 24 and Thursday 27 April

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Leatherhead and Horsham, closing all lines.

From 22:13 buses will replace trains between Leatherhead and Dorking / Horsham.

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between London Bridge and Tulse Hill / New Cross Gate closing some lines.

Customer advice

Buses will replace trains between London Bridge and Streatham Common

The following alterations will also apply on the routes to / from London Bridge:

  • West Croydon (via Streatham Common) - trains will run half hourly between Streatham Common and West Croydon.
  • Tattenham Corner (via Crystal Palace) - trains will run half hourly between Tulse Hill and Tattenham Corner.
  • London Victoria - trains will run between London Victoria and Beckenham Junction.
  • Uckfield - trains will run between East Croydon and Uckfield.

Customers travelling to / from London Bridge via Sydenham are advised to use London Underground between London Bridge and Canada Water and London Overground between Canada Water and Crystal Palace / West Croydon.

Reduced service between London Victoria and Brighton / Epsom / Gatwick Airport on Sunday 30 April and Monday 1 May

 

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Balham and East Croydon closing some lines.

Customer advice

Gatwick Express trains will run half hourly as follows:

Trains will depart London Victoria on the hour and 30 minutes past.

Trains will depart Gatwick Airport at 20 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour.

Southern trains are reduced between London Victoria and Brighton / Epsom.

As a consequence of this engineering work, buses will replace trains between London Bridge and Streatham Common via Peckham Rye.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work from 21:20 until 05:30 each night between Earlswood and Three Bridges, closing some lines.

Customer Advice:

Train services are unable to call at Earlswood and Salfords. A replacement bus will run between Redhill and Three Bridges, calling at these stations.

Reduced service at Tonbridge on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 May

 

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Edenbridge and Tonbridge on Saturday and Sunday, closing the line and on Sunday between Sevenoaks - Edenbridge / Paddock Wood / Wadhurst, closing the line.

Customer advice:

Southern

On Saturday and Sunday Buses will replace trains between Edenbridge and Tonbridge.

Southeastern

On Sunday buses will replace trains between Sevenoaks and Wadhurst and also between Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells calling at High Brooms.

  • London Charing Cross to Hastings services will terminate at Sevenoaks
  • London Charing Cross to Ramsgate will be diverted via Maidstone East
  • London Charing Cross to Dover Priory will not run.

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Streatham and Wimbledon via Sutton, closing the line.

Customer Advice:

Thameslink trains to and from Sutton will operate to and from Wimbledon via Tooting. Customers should use TfL buses between Wimbledon and Sutton and Southern replacement buses between Streatham and Sutton via Mitcham Junction.

Southern replacement buses will run between Streatham and Epsom via Mitcham Junction and also between West Croydon and Sutton.

Trains will not run between Epsom and Dorking, customers should use South West Trains.

Buses replace trains between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant / Fareham from Saturday 27 until Monday 29 May

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Portsmouth and Cosham / Havant, closing the line.

Customer Advice:

Buses replace trains between Portsmouth Harbour and Fareham and between Portsmouth Harbour and Havant.

Some trains between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour will start / terminate at Haslemere. Other trains will run between Haslemere and Havant. All other trains will start / terminate at Cosham or Havant to connect with the buses.

Most Great Western services will start / terminate at Fareham to connect with the buses, but additional changes will also occur on the following trains:

06.48 Portsmouth Harbour to Brighton will not run.

10.46 Great Malvern to Brighton will terminate Westbury.

09.00 Brighton to Great Malvern and 17.00 Brighton to Bristol Temple Meads will start from Westbury.

Southern

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Streatham / West Croydon and Epsom, closing all lines.

Buses will run between Streatham and Epsom via Mitcham Junction with some services extending to Dorking. Buses will also run between West Croydon and Sutton.

Thameslink services will run between Luton and Wimbledon via Tooting. If you are travelling to and from stations between Wimbledon and Sutton you will be able to use London Buses to complete your journey.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport, closing some lines.

Advice for Gatwick Express customers:

A half hourly service will run between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

Advice for Great Western Railway customers:

Trains between Reading and Redhill / Gatwick Airport will start / terminate at Reigate. An hourly replacement bus will run between Reigate and Gatwick Airport, to connect with this service. Buses will also run between Reigate and Redhill.

Advice for Southern customers:

A reduced service will run between London Victoria and Brighton.

A replacement bus will run between Tonbridge and Redhill and between Purley and Redhill / Horley.

Advice for Thameslink customers:

On Saturday, the 23:10 and 23:40 Bedford to Three Bridges services will depart East Croydon later than normal, arriving into Three Bridges approximately 19 minutes later than scheduled.

Trains from London Bridge to Brighton will not call at Balcombe, but trains from Bedford to Brighton will call additionally at Balcombe.

Services between Bedford and Three Bridges will run non-stop between Purley and Gatwick Airport. A replacement bus will run between Purley and Gatwick Airport via Redhill.

On Sunday, a revised service will run between London Bridge and Brighton.

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Loughborough Junction / Peckham Rye and Sutton closing the line.

Customer advice:

Southern trains are replaced by buses between Peckham Rye and Sutton with some buses to from / Dorking.

There will be no Thameslink trains between London St Pancras International and Sutton / Brighton.

Trains will run between Bedford / Luton and St Pancras International (High level). Some trains will terminate / start at West Hamstead Thameslink

Trains to / from Brighton and Wimbledon will start / terminate at London Bridge.

Customers should use London Buses or London Underground between West Hampstead Thameslink and London Bridge and Southern replacement buses between Streatham and Sutton for stations via Mitchham Junction.

Customers for Tooting and Haydons Road should use London Buses between Mitcham Junction and Tooting / Haydons Road.

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Havant and Barnham, closing all lines.

Advice for Great Western Railway customers:

Services which normally run between Cardiff Central / Bristol Temple Meads and Brighton will start / terminate at Portsmouth Harbour. You are advised to change en route for alternative rail / road services for Brighton and the South Coast.

Advice for Southern customers:

Due to engineering work between Havant and Fratton until 09:10, a replacement bus will run between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour.

It is not yet known how Southern will be affected by the engineering work between Havant and Barnham.

Amended service between Surrey Quays / London Bridge and Sydenham on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June

 

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction, closing all lines between the stations.

Customer Advice:

London Overground

London Overground services will not run between New Cross Gate and West Croydon / Crystal Palace. Buses have been organised to run between the stations, calling additionally at London Bridge.

Southern Saturday service:

Services between London Bridge and Horsham / Uckfield will be amended to run between East Croydon and Horsham / Uckfield.

Services between London Victoria and London Bridge will be amended to run between London Victoria and Tattenham Corner via Crystal Palace, calling at all stations.

A bus service will run between London Bridge and West Croydon via Sydenham, to help you complete your journey.

Southern Sunday Service:

Service between London Bridge and Horsham will be diverted to run between London Victoria and Three Bridges.

London Bridge to Tonbridge services will run between Redhill and Tonbridge.

Services that run between London Bridge and Crystal Palace via Tulse Hill will be extended to run to and from Tattenham Corner. This is to replace services that normally run between Tattenham Corner and London Bridge via Sydenham, which are cancelled.

A bus service will run between London Bridge and West Croydon via Sydenham, to help you complete your journey.

Thameslink

Trains will not run between London Bridge and Brighton. Bedford to Brighton services are not affected, but will call additionally at Balcombe.
