One of the best parts of my job as a presenter is getting to meet new people, and finding out about their journey.
Someone who can definitely relate to this is music journalist, cultural commentator and presenter Will “ill will” Lavin, who has been reporting on some of the biggest music moments for 15 years.
Will is known for his versatile and passionate knowledge of everything music, movies and entertainment and has interviewed everyone from Sting, Chaka Khan and Eminem to Chris Brown and Fall Out Boy.
Making the trip with Southern Rail to Bletchley in Milton Keynes from Clapham Junction, I met with Will to talk about his thoughts on the powerful way that music has been used as a voice for the youth, particularly in this political climate with artists such as Stormzy and Dave.
Will explained how music transformed his life after a troubled upbringing and how it has the power to bring people together across the country.
Thank you to Will for sharing your journey and some great music history gems and wise words for music lovers of the future!
Stay tuned for more of my journeys and stories about music’s power to transform as one of Southern Rail’s official Line Residents.
