Explore the best art galleries and events in the south

Link up your gallery visits by train and explore some of the UK's most exciting art exhibits. Here's our guide to the must-visit art destinations on the Southern network.

The Turner Prize event

Established in 1984, the Turner Prize is one of the best-known prizes for the visual arts world and is awarded to a British artist for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work in the previous twelve months.

For the first time, the Turner Prize is coming to Sussex for 2023. Towner Eastbourne is hosting this prestigious event from 28 September 2023 to 14 April 2024 as the centrepiece of their centenary celebrations. The exhibition is free to attend and the announcement of the winner of the Turner Prize will be on 5 December 2023. Shortlisted artists include Barbara Walker, Ghislaine Leung, Jesse Darling, and Rory Pilgrim.
