Barnham to Havant improvement work

Weekend works

A nine-day line closure took place in October/November 2019 affecting the West Coastway between Barnham and Havant. There will also be several subsequent weekend closures. These works will allow Network Rail to replace the tracks, including at several level crossings. The work will improve the reliability of rail services on the line and reduce delays for rail passengers and motorists. We will also take the opportunity to carry out station improvements in the area. The work at level crossings will result in some road diversions and closures - please check and allow extra time for your journey.

On the following weekend dates buses will replace trains between Havant and Barnham:

  • Sunday 17 November
  • Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December¬†

Throughout the work there will be no Southern services between Havant and Portsmouth or Southampton. South Western Railway and Great Western Railway services will be running a near normal service to/from Portsmouth and Southampton. Trains to London will still run from Havant (to London Waterloo via South Western Railway) and Bognor Regis (via Southern).

Revised bus and train times for all dates are now available in journey planners.
