Why is this happening?
The works are planned to replace old track and signalling with modern and more reliable equipment. This will improve journeys on two routes in the Arun Valley, as well as the wider region by reducing delays and helping to make our services more reliable.
When is it happening?
There will be closures of all lines through Horsham on:
- Sunday 11 July
- Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 July
- Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August
- Nine days between Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 August including weekdays
- Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September
- Sunday 3 October
What area is impacted?
The works will mean that no trains can run on the Arun Valley line between Three Bridges and Arundel via Horsham, nor on the line between Dorking and Horsham.
What does this mean for my journey?
We’re developing plans for alternative travel options and rail replacement buses. We’ll provide more information in Spring 2021 to enable you to plan your journeys.
Longer distance rail services such as from Portsmouth & Southsea or Chichester that would normally use the Arun Valley line will be diverted via Hove and the Brighton Main Line.
We’ve timed these works for the Summer holidays when fewer people are travelling, and where some may be more flexible with their travel plans.
The works have also been timed to avoid Brighton Pride 2021 at the start of August.
