My name is Liam and I live in Horley, Surrey. Since 2005 I have been an active fund raiser for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association including a sponsored motorbike ride – the ‘M25 Circle of Life’.
I have a slow form of MND which means I am very limited in what I can do. The worst part of this disease for me at the moment is the difficulty in communicating, which affects 90% of people with MND.
I would pick the train over my own car every time when there is an accessible station nearby to where I am going.
I am now quite limited in what I do, so that’s where travelling on the train is great for me. At Horley, I am spoiled as all the staff know me and are great when it comes to helping me. Most of the staff at other stations and on the trains are very good.
I know there is a genuine desire for Southern to get it right for passengers like me and I admire that.
