Southampton, and Hampshire in general, was the centre of aviation development in the UK between 1910 and 1960, including being the birthplace of the iconic Spitfire. The Solent Sky museum is therefore a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of air travel.

Here, you can explore over 20 different aircraft from different historical periods. Discover a Supermarine Spitfire, Short Sandringham S.25/V - VH-BRC, Beachcomber and many more planes as you enhance your knowledge at this fascinating Southampton museum.

National Motor Museum in Beaulieu

One of the best days out in the Southampton area is nestled in the nearby village of Beaulieu: the National Motor Museum. It houses an incredible collection of motor vehicles and memorabilia and is a popular choice for families.

This Beaulieu museum has exhibitions for cars seen in films and secret army operations as well as a playground for kids to blow off steam after learning all about the motors.
