Train Service Updates

See if there is any service disruption on the Southern network, check live departures and arrivals from any station or find out about any alternative routes during unplanned disruption.

A fire next to the track between South Croydon and Oxted means all lines are blocked. Trains running between East Croydon and Oxted may be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 18:30.
Customer advice:
If you are travelling now, you may need to use an alternative route for your journey. The fire Brigade are on site and working to put out the fire.
If you are travelling to or from Sanderstead and London, you should make your way to Purley Oaks to connect with alternative Southern trains towards your destination. This is approximately a 7 minute journey.
A shuttle train service is expected to run between Oxted and East Grinstead and between Oxted and Uckfield. Please check journey planners for updated information.
This means that the following stations will not receive a train service until further notice:
- Sanderstead
- Riddlesdown
- Upper Warlingham
- Woldingham
You can use your ticket on the below alternatives at no extra cost:
- Alternative Southern services towards your destination
- Alternative Thameslink services between Haywards Heath / Three Bridges and London
- Southeastern trains between Tunbridge Wells / Tonbridge and London Bridge - You can connect with alternative Southern or Thameslink trains at London Bridge)
- London Buses between Warlingham (Town) and Croydon
You can also use your ticket on the below local bus routes:
Metrobus:
- 270 between East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Hassocks, and Brighton.
- 291 Three Bridges, East Grinstead, and Tunbridge Wells
- 281 between Crawley, Three Bridges, East Grinstead, Lingfield and Dormans
- 400 between Caterham, Godstone, Nutfield, Redhill, Earlswood, Salfords, Horley, Gatwick Airport, Crawley, Three Bridges, and East Grinstead
Brighton & Hove Buses:
- Regency 29, 29B, 29X between Brighton, Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, Eridge, and Tunbridge Wells
Using an alternative route will take longer than normal. Please allow at least 30 minutes of additional time for your journey today.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
The fire brigade are currently dealing with an incident in the Sanderstead area. As a result, the power to the rails has been switched off to allow them to put the fire out safely. This means that no trains are able to run until further notice.

Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.

The Epsom Derby will be taking place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June and our trains and stations in the area are expected to be extremely busy.

In order to provide a safe and efficient service for the event, we will be operating an amended timetable on Saturday 6 June.
You are advised to purchase advance tickets, or use contactless, to avoid queues at the station. Plan ahead and check your journey at National Rail.

Strike action is taking place by some London Underground drivers on Tuesday 2 and Thursday 4 June.

This strike action will not impact our services with our trains expected to call at all stations as planned. However, our stations and trains in and around London will be exceptionally busy, so be prepared and allow extra time. If possible, consider travelling outside of the busiest peak times for a more comfortable journey.

On the Underground, a service is expected on most lines, however, there will be disruption to journeys and service levels will vary across the Tube network. Services that do run are expected to start late and finish early.

During these strikes, buses, DLR, Elizabeth line, London Overground and trams will be running as normal but are expected to be busy. Some disruption is expected during the early mornings on Wednesday 3 and Friday 5 June, as Tube services return to normal.

Planned engineering work for Today

Amended 00:01 London Bridge to Selhurst service from Tuesday 2 to Friday 5 June

Between London Bridge and Selhurst

Engineering work is taking place overnight from end of service Monday, finishing Friday morning, closing some lines.

At the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings, the 00:01 (on Tuesday to Friday mornings) London Bridge to Selhurst train will be diverted to Norwood Junction after calling at Tulse Hill. You should change at Tulse Hill for a replacement bus calling at Streatham, Streatham Common, Norbury and Thornton Heath and Selhurst.

Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

Amended late night / end of service Southern trains via Three Bridges from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 June

Between London Victoria and Brighton / Worthing and also between Haywards Heath and Eastbourne

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Three Bridges and Brighton / Lewes, closing some lines.

At the end of service on Monday to Wednesday evenings, the 23:25 London Victoria to Brighton train will be diverted after Haywards Heath to run to Brighton via Lewes, it will not call at Burgess Hill or Hassocks. The train will arrive at Brighton later than usual. A replacement bus will run from Haywards Heath to Brighton calling at Burgess Hill and Hassocks.

At the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings:

The 00:02 (Tuesday to Thursday mornings) London Victoria to Worthing train will terminate at Three Bridges. A replacement bus will run from Three Bridges to Worthing, calling additionally at Brighton.

The 01:08 (Tuesday to Thursday mornings) Haywards Heath to Eastbourne train will not run. Replacement buses will run from Haywards Heath to Lewes and from Lewes to Eastbourne.

Mitcham Eastfields: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between pltform 2 and the footbridge from now until further notice at Mitcham Eastfields station.

Southampton Central: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between Platform 2 & 3 and the station footbridge from now until further notice at Southampton Central station.

The affects Southern services towards Brighton, and which terminate at Southampton Central, South Western Railway services towards Weymouth and London Waterloo, Great Western Railway services towards Portsmouth Harbour, and Cross Country services towards Bournemouth and Newcastle. Wembley Central: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between platform 5 and the main concourse from now until further notice at Wembley Central station.
