DaySave is an exclusive ticket offering unlimited off-peak train travel across the Southern network for one day. With a single ticket covering all your journeys, DaySave is ideal for exploring the South Coast, visiting friends, or enjoying a day trip. Available for individuals or groups, it’s an affordable way to travel.

  • Unlimited travel: Enjoy unlimited off-peak journeys across the Southern network for the entire day. 
  • Great for families and groups: DaySave is available for individuals or groups of up to four people. What's more, whilst there isn't a child DaySave ticket option, up to 4 children can travel for £2 each, when travelling with the DaySave ticket holder. 
  • Affordable and scenic days out: Travel from Victoria to Seaford and back from Eastbourne with a single ticket for the Seven Sisters cliff walk, saving money and avoiding the hassle of buying multiple single tickets. 
  • Wide network coverage: Access a range of destinations across the Southern network, including coastal towns, countryside retreats, and city stops. 

When can I use this ticket type? 

The DaySave ticket is an Off-Peak ticket. This means you can use it at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and even on Bank Holidays for those day trips out. During the Monday to Friday period your train day pass is not valid before 10:00, or on trains that leave the following stations between 16:15 and 19:15: 

  • East Croydon 
  • London Victoria 
  • London Bridge 
  • Clapham Junction 

Things to remember 

  • Off-Peak only: DaySave tickets are not valid during peak travel times. 
  • Southern services only: DaySave tickets require a Southern origin and can only be used on Southern trains. They are not valid on Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Thameslink or other train operators’ services. 
  • Group limitations: Group DaySave tickets are limited to a maximum of four people. 
  • Additional restrictions: These tickets are only available to buy as paper tickets, and it is not possible to buy a DaySave eTicket. They can’t be bought on the day of travel or from our stations. Tickets cannot be changed or refunded.

Benefits of buying direct 

  • No booking fees: Unlike some third-party retailers, when you buy directly from Southern, you won’t be charged any booking fees. We think it’s only fair, that you only pay the fare.  
  • Exclusive to Southern: Travel on all Southern Railway services
  • Buy in advance: Book online by selecting the ‘other tickets’ tab on the booking engine, at least 3 days in advance of travel.
