Gatwick Staff Discount Card

If your work is based at Gatwick Airport, then you may be eligible to buy a Gatwick Staff Discount Card. With this card you can benefit from discounted train tickets on from your home station to Gatwick Airport.

What is the Gatwick Staff Discount Card?

The Gatwick Staff Discount Card is

a Railcard for staff based at Gatwick Airport
offers 25% saving on rail travel in the card area
for use between your home station and Gatwick Airport

How to qualify for your discount card

To apply for a Gatwick Staff Discount Card your employment must be based at Gatwick Airport, and you must have either:

Valid photo identification, in the form of:

Gatwick photo identification card (with unique identification number) issued by the Gatwick ID centre
or Rail photocard (you will need to supply a passport size and quality photo)

AND

Proof of employment status, in the form of:

Gatwick photo identification card
or A letter from your employer on headed paper verifying you are based at Gatwick Airport, your work address and your status as a staff member

Your Gatwick Staff Discount Card will have your staff identification or rail photocard number on it. If you do not have valid photo identification and proof of employment status, you will not be able to collect your discount card.

Both the Gatwick Staff Discount Card and discounted tickets bought using the Card are non-transferrable, and may not be used by anyone but the Card Holder (you).

How to get your Discount Card

Take your application form, photo identification and proof of employment status to the Southern train ticket office in the South Terminal to collect your discount card.

Once you have your Gatwick Staff Discount Card you can purchase your discounted train tickets from any station within the card area upon presentation of the card and your photo identification.

Using your discount card

When traveling you must carry with you:

Your discounted train tickets
Gatwick Staff Discount Card
Gatwick Airport Staff Photo ID, or Rail Photocard ID
Proof of employment letter if you do not have a Gatwick Airport Staff Photo ID

Replacing lost cards

If you lose your Gatwick Staff Discount Card you can apply for a duplicate by completing the form below. A £20 administration fee will be charged for issuing the duplicate.

There will be no refunds given on the Gatwick Staff Discount Card.

What train tickets you can buy

You can buy:

Season tickets: Weekly, Monthly, and any other period up to the expiry date of your Gatwick Staff Discount Card. The origin station must be your home station (which will be printed on your Gatwick Staff Discount Card) and the destination station must always be Gatwick Airport. Annual Season tickets bought with the Gatwick Staff Discount Card do not qualify for Annual Gold Cards
Singles, Returns, and Day Return tickets
First Class and Standard Class tickets
Anytime, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak tickets

You cannot buy:

Any ticket for use on an Oyster card
Travelcards or London Underground tickets
Add-on fares for any bus services or events admission
Train tickets for travel outside of the area map
Discounted tickets for anybody other than the card holder (you)
Train tickets that have an expiry date after the expiry date of the Gatwick Staff Discount Card

Tickets can be purchased for travel on Gatwick Express, Southern, South Western Railway, Thameslink, Great Northern, Southeastern, Great Western Railway and London Overground services.

Gatwick Staff Discount Card terms and conditions

Discounts are available across the Gatwick Staff Discount Card area map. Restrictions apply to discounts available to and from selected stations surrounding the Southern network. Please refer to the map for more details
Discounts are available on the following ticket types for the duration of the discount card:
- Season tickets: Weekly, Monthly, and other periods up to the expiry date of the Gatwick Staff Discount Card
- Singles, Returns and Day Return tickets
- First and Standard Class tickets
- Anytime, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak
Discounted tickets for travel with Gatwick Express, Southern, South Western Railway, Thameslink, Great Northern, Southeastern, Great Western Railway and London Overground services.
Discounts with a Gatwick Staff Discount Card cannot be used in conjunction with any other staff discount
Gatwick Staff Discount Cards are not valid for discounted Car Parking at any station
Tickets can be bought from any Southern ticket office
Your data will be stored by Southern and may be used for research or marketing purposes by Southern but will not be passed to third parties. Important information and updates about the Gatwick Staff Discount Card will be sent to card holders
Gatwick Staff Discount Cards, and tickets issued in association with them, are non-transferrable. Railcard holders cannot buy tickets for anyone else but themselves
Tickets are sold subject to the National Rail Conditions of Travel
Passenger Charter discounts do not apply
Discounts do not apply to: London Underground, Travelcard, Tramlink, Add-On Bus Link, PlusBus or Leisure / Admission fares
No refunds are available on the Gatwick Staff Discount Card
Fraudulent use of the Gatwick Staff Discount Card may result in the card being taken away, and prosecution
