A fault with the signalling system between Seaford and Lewes means that trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Lewes. Trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 10 minutes.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
This part of the network uses track circuits, which are electrical systems used to detect trains. If a track circuit fails, the signalling system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward.
Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections.
Network Rail staff are investigating an ongoing electrical fault in this area.

For the week before and after Easter - between Monday 30 March and Friday 10 April - there will be small changes to Southern services between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge and between East Grinstead and London Victoria.

On Monday to Thursday, the additional peak-time trains between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge will not run.

This applies to the:
● 06:05 Littlehampton to London Bridge via Worthing
● 06:47 Eastbourne to London Bridge
● 07:02 Bognor Regis to London Bridge via Horsham
● 17:03 London Bridge to Eastbourne
● 17:33 London Bridge to Littlehampton via Worthing
● 18:03 London Bridge to Bognor Regis via Horsham

If you normally travel on these trains you will be able to use other services to complete your journey - with connections to alternative trains available at stations such as Preston Park, Haywards Heath, Three Bridges and East Croydon.

For Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be eight (four in each direction) additional off-peak trains between East Grinstead and London Victoria to provide a half-hourly service during the middle of the day. A half-hourly service already runs all day on Thursdays and Fridays.

Both of these changes are being made to better support demand during these two weeks over the Easter break as demand for peak time trains decreases and more people travel in the off-peak period instead. Please remember that there will also be engineering work taking place over this period, as well as amended timetables for bank holidays.

From Friday 3 to Wednesday 8 April, no Southern trains will run between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.

Please use alternative London Overground trains between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction at no extra cost.

National Rail ticket acceptance at no extra cost will be in place between:

Watford Junction and Potters Bar (on London Northwestern Railway replacement buses)

Buses replace trains between Eastbourne and Hastings / Ore from Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April

Engineering work is taking place between Eastbourne and Hastings, closing all lines.

All day on Friday, Saturday and Monday, no Southern trains will run between Eastbourne and Hastings. On Sunday, no Southern trains will run between Polegate and Hastings.

Replacement buses will run between Polegate / Eastbourne and Hastings / Ore.

Trains which usually run between Eastbourne and Ashford International will be amended to only run between Hastings and Ashford International.

Trains will also be amended to run between London Victoria and Eastbourne and between Brighton and Eastbourne.

From Saturday to Monday, tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on Southeastern trains between Hastings and London.

Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

The 00:35 London Bridge to East Croydon train will be diverted between London Bridge and Norwood Junction, and will run later than usual. A replacement bus will run from London Bridge to East Croydon, calling at stations via Sydenham

At Buxted station, the following issues have been reported:

Gatwick Airport: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between Platform 1 & 2 and the station concourse from now until further notice at Gatwick Airport station.
Additional Information:
This affects Thameslink services towards Bedford & Peterborough, Southern services towards London Victoria, and Great Western Railway services towards Reading via Guildford and which terminate at Gatwick Airport. Please speak to station staff for further assistance
