Train Service Updates

See if there is any service disruption on the Southern network, check live departures and arrivals from any station or find out about any alternative routes during unplanned disruption.

A safety inspection of the track between Chichester and Havant means all lines are blocked. Trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until 20:00.
Customer advice:
Services that run through this area are subject to disruption while a safety inspection of the track is carried out. We're unable to provide an estimate for when the line will reopen at this time. Stations west of Chichester will not have a Southern service. These are:

Expected service plan
Southern are expecting the below changes to normal timetable in this area:
- Services which normally run between Brighton and Southampton are suspended
- Services which normally run between Brighton and Chichester are running as normal
- Services which normally run between Brighton and Portsmouth Harbour are running between Brighton and Portsmouth Harbour only
- There will be a reduced service between Bognor Regis and Barnham: shuttle services which normally run between Barnham and Bognor Regis are suspended
- Services which are timetabled to run between London Victoria and Havant/Bognor Regis (splitting and attaching at Horsham) will instead run only to Bognor Regis. These services will not split and attach at Horsham
Ticket acceptance
Your ticket will be accepted on the below at no additional cost:
- South Western Railway between London Waterloo and Southampton Central / Havant
- Great Western Railway between Gatwick Airport, Redhill, Dorking (Deepdene) and Guildford
- London Underground as required to connect to / from London Waterloo
Additionally, your ticket will be accepted on the below Stagecoach routes:
- Stagecoach 500 between Littlehampton, Barnham, and Chichester
- Stagecoach 700 between Littlehampton, Chichester, Havant, and Portsmouth

Strike action is taking place by some London Underground drivers on Tuesday 2 and Thursday 4 June.

This strike action will not impact our services with our trains expected to call at all stations as planned. However, our stations and trains in and around London will be exceptionally busy, so be prepared and allow extra time. If possible, consider travelling outside of the busiest peak times for a more comfortable journey.

On the Underground, a service is expected on most lines, however, there will be disruption to journeys and service levels will vary across the Tube network. Services that do run are expected to start late and finish early.

During these strikes, buses, DLR, Elizabeth line, London Overground and trams will be running as normal but are expected to be busy. Some disruption is expected during the early mornings on Wednesday 3 and Friday 5 June, as Tube services return to normal.

The Epsom Derby will be taking place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June and our trains and stations in the area are expected to be extremely busy.

In order to provide a safe and efficient service for the event, we will be operating an amended timetable on Saturday 6 June.

Railway infrastructure strengthening: No trains to / from Portsmouth Harbour from Monday 25 to Friday 29 May

Great Western Railway:

Buses replace trains between Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour.

The 20:30 Cardiff Central (starting Bristol Parkway) to Portsmouth Harbour will terminate Southampton Central. Customers for Fareham, Fratton, Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour, should travel by earlier or later services.

The 04:50 Fratton to Bristol Temple Meads will start from Southampton Central. Customers from Fratton, Cosham, Portchester and Fareham travel by later services.

South Western Railway:

Buses will replace trains between:

Havant and Portsmouth Harbour
Fareham and Portsmouth Harbour

Southern:

An amended train service will run between London Victoria and Havant, and between Brighton and Southampton Central.

You can use South Western Railway replacement buses between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour at no extra cost.

Background information:

Network Rail engineers will be strengthening the railway infrastructure to keep trains running safely in the Portsmouth area. Between Monday 25 and Friday 29 May the wheeltimbers on Portcreek Viaduct will be renewed, following the work to strengthen the viaduct at the end of March. New tracks will be installed between Portcreek Viaduct and Moat Bridge.

In addition, 5 bridges (including St George’s Road, Moneyfields, Holbrook, Burrfields and St Mary’s) will be strengthened, and the renewal of Fratton station footbridge will be continued.
