Service Alterations

SUSPENDED - Industrial action affecting National Rail services on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 May

The RMT and TSSA Trades Unions have announced that they are suspending the industrial action planned for Bank Holiday Monday 25 May and Tuesday 26 May.

Contingency plans to deal with the planed industrial action on the 25th and 26th had already been partly implemented, but train operators have worked closely with Network Rail to re-instate services. Customers should continue to check with National Rail Enquiries or the relevant train company before travelling.

We had previously published special ticketing arrangements for those customers affected by the planned industrial action. Information on how those arrangements will now be applied has been summarised below:

? Customers who have already requested a refund, as they had decided not to travel as a result of the previously planned industrial action, will have their refund processed without the normal administration fee being charged.

? Customers who have already requested a refund as a result of the previously planned industrial action, but now wish to travel, will have their refund processed without the normal administration fee being charged, and then be sold a new ticket for the journey they now wish to make.

? Customers with tickets valid for travel on Monday 25 May or Tuesday 26 May, who had already changed their travel plans to travel on Sunday 24 May or Wednesday 27 May will be allowed to continue to travel on these days, but are strongly encouraged to consider changing their travel back to Monday 25 May or Tuesday 26, as previously booked, if at all possible. This will help avoid overcrowding on the 24 and 27 May.

? As a reminder, if you had an Anytime, Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak ticket valid for travel on either Monday 25 or Tuesday, 26 May you were allowed to use your ticket for travel on Sunday 24 May or Wednesday 27 May, subject to any travel restrictions that would normally apply to your ticket on those days.

? If you had an Advance ticket for travel on Monday 25 or Tuesday 26 May, you were allowed to travel on either Sunday 24 May or Wednesday 27 May. However, if you decided to travel on either of these two, alternative days, you had to use the same train service that you would have used on the 25 or 26 May, or the services immediately before or after that service.

Major improvement works are scheduled during the Spring Bank Holiday, further details can be found here. To see all other engineering works taking place, please go to our engineering works page.
