Further Education Season tickets

The following local authorities have arranged for full time Further Education students to receive 34% discount on the price of Monthly and longer Season tickets:

  • West Sussex County Council
  • East Sussex County Council
  • Brighton and Hove Council

Ticket information

  • Tickets must be purchased a minimum of two days and up to 14 days in advance
  • Tickets must have a minimum validity of one month. Any period above one month is possible up to a year. However if you require a season ticket for longer than 10 months and 13 days then you will be sold an annual ticket
  • To qualify for a discounted season ticket you must live in one of the above areas highlighted above, and have a valid Sussex Student Card. Please speak to your school, college or local authority about applying for this card
  • You should have your student photocard and your unique pin code ready. These are issued by the above Local Educational Authorities
  • Please remember that if you are buying a ticket on behalf of someone else, when you complete the application you must use their name for the ticket rather than your own, with the exception of the payment section when you will need to use your details that relate to the bank card that you are using to pay for the ticket.

  • Tickets must be purchased a minimum of two days and up to 14 days in advance of the start date.
  • Tickets are sold in accordance with the National Conditions of Travel. Refunds and exchanges can only be made in accordance with these conditions
  • Tickets will be sent by post, depending on the delivery option chosen
  • If your ticket does not arrive within seven days please contact us for a replacement. You can also apply for a duplicate season by going to any Southern staffed station. A duplicate application costs £20
  • Tickets will be posted to the customer's address as entered in this site
  • You must be a student in Full Time Further Education
  • You must be aged between 16 and 19 at start of course, unless specifically exempt
  • You must be resident in Brighton & Hove, East or West Sussex Council area
  • The Origin Station of your ticket must be most convenient station for home, and the destination must be the most convenient station for school or college
  • Journeys available are limited to the Southern and Southeastern networks, but are not available to London Terminals
  • Unizone tickets are not discounted
  • Tickets cannot be further discounted, that is, Charter Discounts do not apply. Further discounts and Gold Cards will not be issued
  • Tickets and Sussex Student Card must be presented together on request every time this is requested by railway, police or security staff. Failure to produce both the ticket and Sussex Student Card may result in the issue of a Penalty Fare, or a full priced ticket as if no ticket were held.
