Further Education Season tickets

The following local authorities have arranged for full time Further Education students in their areas to receive 34% discount on the price of Season tickets:

  • West Sussex County Council
  • East Sussex County Council
  • Brighton and Hove Council

Ticket information

  • Tickets must be purchased a minimum of seven days in advance, and 14 days in advance over Christmas/Easter periods.
  • Tickets cannot be purchased more than one month in advance.
  • Tickets must have a minimum validity of one month. Any period above one month is possible up to a year. However if you require a season ticket for longer than 10 months and 13 days then you will be sold an annual ticket.
  • To qualify for a discounted season ticket you must live in one of the above areas highlighted above, and have a valid Sussex Student Card. Please speak to your school, college or local authority about applying for this card.
  • On this site most tickets are sold at one third below their normal price. However a minimum fare applies based on the equivalent of £30.80 per month. In some case it may be cheaper to buy a full price ticket from your local station.
  • You should have your student photocard (issued by the above Local Educational Authorities) ready, as you will be asked for the number.

Terms and conditions

  • Tickets must be purchased seven days in advance of the start date. During busy holiday periods tickets must be purchased 14 days in advance of the start date
  • Tickets cannot be purchased with a start date of more than one month in advance
  • Tickets are sold in accordance with the National Conditions of Travel. Refunds and exchanges can only be made in accordance with these conditions
  • Tickets will be sent by first class recorded delivery for free. After selecting this option, if your ticket does not arrive within seven days please contact us for a replacement. If this is not selected, please apply for a duplicate season by going to any Southern staffed station to replace the season lost in the post. A duplicate application costs £20 and can only replace the ticket once during its validity
  • Tickets will be posted to the customer's address as entered in this site
  • You must be a student in Full Time Further Education
  • You must be aged between 16 and 19 at start of course, unless specifically exempt
  • You must be resident in Brighton & Hove, East or West Sussex Council area
  • The Origin Station of your ticket must be most convenient station for home, and the destination must be the most convenient station for school or college
  • Journeys available are limited to the Southern and Southeastern networks, but are not available to London Terminals
  • Travel is permitted on the trains of all Train Operating Companies except Gatwick Express and Eurostar
  • Unizone tickets are not discounted
  • Tickets cannot be further discounted, that is, Charter Discounts do not apply. Further discounts and Gold Cards will not be issued to annual tickets purchased on this site
  • Tickets and Sussex Student Card must be presented together on request every time this is requested by railway, police or security staff. Failure to produce both the ticket and Sussex Student Card may result in the issue of a Penalty Fare, or a full priced ticket as if no ticket were held.   • Duplicate tickets will only be issued according to Southern regulations
