Train Service Updates

See if there is any service disruption on the Southern network, check live departures and arrivals from any station or find out about any alternative routes during unplanned disruption.

Overrunning engineering works between East Croydon and Oxted means that fewer trains are able to run on all lines. As a result, trains running between East Croydon and East Grinstead / Oxted may be cancelled.
Disruption is expected until 08:00.
Customer advice:
Services have been disrupted by engineering works that had overrun near Oxted.
Less trains are running, with some services cancelled between East Croydon and East Grinstead or Uckfield. It is strongly advised that you delay your travel until trains are running again.
If you still need to travel, you can use Southeastern services between London, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells at no extra cost. You can also use local bus services for connections at Three Bridges, Crawley and Haywards Heath to reach your destination. Using an alternative route may take longer than usual. Please leave at least an additional 30 minutes to complete your journey.
Please ensure to check before you travel using online journey planners and live departure boards for the latest information. It is likely most services will also be busier than normal, due to less trains running.
Ticket Acceptance:
You can use your existing ticket at no additional cost on the below services:
- Alternative Southern Services or Thameslink services
- Southeastern services between London, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells
- Metrobus on the following routes:
  - 231 for Edenbridge, Penshurst, and Tunbridge Wells
  - 270 between East Grinstead and Haywards Heath
  - 291 between Crawley, Three Bridges, East Grinstead, and Tunbridge Wells
  - 281 between Crawley, Three Bridges, East Grinstead, Dormans, and Lingfield
- Compass buses on the below routes
  - 31 / 31A / 31B between Uckfield and Haywards Heath
Replacement buses are in operation:
There are some limited replacement buses that you may be able to use to reach your destination. These buses will run between Oxted and Uckfield.
Where possible, schedules for these buses will be shown on our journey planners, so you can see the next services from your station. If not, they'll be under the control of our local station teams.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Overnight engineering work taking place near Oxted has not been completed and is causing disruption to services. This work has now been completed by Network Rail so services can now start to run as booked. There will however be some disruption to services whilst operators return to a normal timetable.

For the week before and after Easter - between Monday 30 March and Friday 10 April - there will be small changes to Southern services between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge and between East Grinstead and London Victoria.

On Monday to Thursday, the additional peak-time trains between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge will not run.

This applies to the:
● 06:05 Littlehampton to London Bridge via Worthing
● 06:47 Eastbourne to London Bridge
● 07:02 Bognor Regis to London Bridge via Horsham
● 17:03 London Bridge to Eastbourne
● 17:33 London Bridge to Littlehampton via Worthing
● 18:03 London Bridge to Bognor Regis via Horsham

If you normally travel on these trains you will be able to use other services to complete your journey - with connections to alternative trains available at stations such as Preston Park, Haywards Heath, Three Bridges and East Croydon.

For Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be eight (four in each direction) additional off-peak trains between East Grinstead and London Victoria to provide a half-hourly service during the middle of the day. A half-hourly service already runs all day on Thursdays and Fridays.

Both of these changes are being made to better support demand during these two weeks over the Easter break as demand for peak time trains decreases and more people travel in the off-peak period instead. Please remember that there will also be engineering work taking place over this period, as well as amended timetables for bank holidays.

- On a different day
- Earlier or later on the same day (if you have an Advance ticket)
- During the morning or evening peak (if you have an Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak ticket)
Please ensure that you have evidence of your original airline booking, along with a flight cancellation or amendment notification, ready to show staff. If you are no longer travelling due to a flight cancellation, unused tickets will be entitled to a fee-free refund.
