Train Service Updates

See if there is any service disruption on the Southern network, check live departures and arrivals from any station or find out about any alternative routes during unplanned disruption.

A fault with the signalling system between Ore and Eastbourne means that fewer trains are able to run between these stations. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 15:00.
Customer advice:
There will be a reduced service between Ore and Brighton. Some trains which usually run between Ore and Brighton will only run between Eastbourne and Brighton. While you can travel on your normal route, you may need to travel on a different train to normal, or change trains at an intermediate station, such as Eastbourne, to complete your journey.
Trains running through this area may be subject to delays. Additionally, some services that run through this area, such as trains that run between London Victoria and Ore, may also be subject to some further alterations. You should listen to announcements and check station screens while travelling for the latest information.
At Normans Bay and Pevensey Bay, there will be a limited service as a result. If you're travelling to / from one of these stations, you may need alternative travel. You should press the emergency button on the station help point for help with onwards travel.
If you're travelling to one of these stations, then you should speak to station staff regarding onward travel, or press the emergency button on the station help point if you're travelling from an unstaffed station.+
For some journeys on the route between Ashford International and Hastings you may need to use alternative road transport. We have requested buses on this part of the route to help you get to your destination. When these are confirmed they will be shown on your journey planner.
Additionally, you can use your ticket at no extra cost on Southeastern between Hastings and Tonbridge and between Tonbridge and Ashford International.
Please check your train before you travel and allow 45 minutes additional time to complete your journey.
Your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on alternative Southern services towards your destination.

Can you tell me more?
This part of the network uses track circuits to detect trains. If a circuit fails, the system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward.
Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections.
Faults can be caused by electronic issues or track obstructions. Network Rail is investigating, and we’ll share updates as soon as we have them.

Strike action is taking place by some London Underground drivers from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 April.

Severe disruption is expected on the Underground network across all four days:
- On Tuesday and Thursday, there will be significant disruption on all Underground lines from midday onwards, with services expected to finish by 21:00
- On Wednesday and Friday, there will be significant disruption each morning until around lunchtime, with disruption likely into the late afternoon.
London Overground, the Elizabeth Line and DLR are not affected by the strike action but will be busier than normal.

This strike action will not impact our services with our trains expected to call at all stations as planned. However, our stations and trains in and around London will be exceptionally busy, so be prepared and allow extra time. If possible, consider travelling outside of the busiest peak times for a more comfortable journey.

Amended late night / end of service Southern service via Streatham Common from Monday 20 to Thursday 23 April

Between London Victoria and Sutton and between London Bridge and Selhurst

Engineering work is taking place between Streatham Common and Selhurst, closing all lines.

From approximately 23:45 until the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings, trains will run to an amended timetable.

The 23:40 London Victoria to Sutton service will be diverted after Selhurst and terminate at East Croydon. A replacement bus will run from East Croydon to Sutton, calling at West Croydon, then all stations to Sutton.

The 00:01 London Bridge to Selhurst service (Tuesday to Friday) will divert after Tulse Hill and terminate at Norwood Junction. A replacement bus will run from Tulse Hill to Selhurst, calling Streatham Common and all stations via Streatham Common to Selhurst.

Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

Buses replace late night / end of service trains between Haywards Heath / Lewes and Eastbourne from Monday 20 to Friday 24 April

Southern between London Victoria and Eastbourne / Hastings / Ore, between Haywards Heath and Eastbourne, and also between Brighton and Eastbourne / Hastings

Engineering work is taking place between Haywards Heath and Lewes / Eastbourne, closing some lines.

From approximately 21:00 until the end of service on Monday to Thursday evenings, buses will replace trains between Haywards Heath and Lewes / Eastbourne. Some buses will depart Eastbourne earlier to connect with trains from Lewes towards London.

The 01:08 (on Tuesday to Friday mornings) Haywards Heath to Eastbourne train will not run. A replacement bus will run from Haywards Heath to Lewes / Eastbourne.

Please note that journey times will be extended when using rail replacement transport.
