Train Service Updates

See if there is any service disruption on the Southern network, check live departures and arrivals from any station or find out about any alternative routes during unplanned disruption.

A fault with the signalling system between Seaford and Lewes means that trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Lewes. As a result, trains running between Seaford and Brighton may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised to run non-stop between Lewes and Brighton.
Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Southern services running between Seaford and Lewes are subject to delays of up to 15 minutes.
Services may also be revised to run non-stop between Lewes and Brighton.
You can travel using your normal route, but you may need to change trains at an intermediate station to complete your journey.

Can you tell me more about the incident?
This part of the network uses track circuits, which are electrical systems used to detect trains. When a track circuit fails, the signalling system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward.
Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections.
Network Rail engineers are continuing to investigate an ongoing electrical fault in this area which is causing issues with the signalling system.

For the week before and after Easter - between Monday 30 March and Friday 10 April - there will be small changes to Southern services between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge and between East Grinstead and London Victoria.

On Monday to Thursday, the additional peak-time trains between Littlehampton / Bognor Regis / Eastbourne and London Bridge will not run.

This applies to the:
● 06:05 Littlehampton to London Bridge via Worthing
● 06:47 Eastbourne to London Bridge
● 07:02 Bognor Regis to London Bridge via Horsham
● 17:03 London Bridge to Eastbourne
● 17:33 London Bridge to Littlehampton via Worthing
● 18:03 London Bridge to Bognor Regis via Horsham

If you normally travel on these trains you will be able to use other services to complete your journey - with connections to alternative trains available at stations such as Preston Park, Haywards Heath, Three Bridges and East Croydon.

For Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be eight (four in each direction) additional off-peak trains between East Grinstead and London Victoria to provide a half-hourly service during the middle of the day. A half-hourly service already runs all day on Thursdays and Fridays.

Both of these changes are being made to better support demand during these two weeks over the Easter break as demand for peak time trains decreases and more people travel in the off-peak period instead. Please remember that there will also be engineering work taking place over this period, as well as amended timetables for bank holidays.

- On a different day
- Earlier or later on the same day (if you have an Advance ticket)
- During the morning or evening peak (if you have an Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak ticket)
Please ensure that you have evidence of your original airline booking, along with a flight cancellation or amendment notification, ready to show staff. If you are no longer travelling due to a flight cancellation, unused tickets will be entitled to a fee-free refund.

Amended service to / from Sutton on Sunday 5 April

Engineering work is taking place between Tulse Hill and Sutton / Wimbledon, closing some lines.

Southern:

Buses will replace trains between Tulse Hill and Sutton, calling at all stations via Mitcham Junction and additionally also at Streatham Common.

Trains between London Victoria and Dorking will be diverted between London Victoria and Sutton and will not call at stations via Mitcham Junction, they will run non-stop between Balham and Sutton.

Trains between London Bridge and East Croydon (via Peckham Rye) will be diverted and will not call at stations between East Croydon and Tulse Hill via Selhurst, they will be diverted and call additionally at Norwood Junction.

Trains between London Victoria and East Grinstead will call additionally at Selhurst.

Thameslink:

Trains between St Albans City and Sutton via Mitcham Junction will not run.

Trains which usually run between Luton and Sutton via Wimbledon will run to a revised timetable on an alternative route, running between Luton and Wimbledon via Sutton, non-stop between Tulse Hill and Sutton.

Paper rail tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on London Bus services between Streatham and Sutton and on London Underground between Kentish Town and Morden.

No trains will run between Arundel / Angmering / Littlehampton and Barnham / Bognor Regis / Chichester.

Replacement buses will run between Littlehampton and Barnham / Chichester and between Barnham and Bognor Regis.

Trains will run to an amended timetable between London Victoria and Arundel / Littlehampton and between Brighton and Littlehampton.

Trains will also run to an amended timetable between Chichester and Portsmouth Harbour.

Engineering work is taking place between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction, closing all lines.

From Friday 3 to Wednesday 8 April, no Southern trains will run between Shepherds Bush and Watford Junction.

Please use alternative London Overground trains between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction at no extra cost.

National Rail ticket acceptance at no extra cost will be in place between:

Watford Junction and Potters Bar (on London Northwestern Railway replacement buses)
On trains between Potters Bar and London Kings Cross

Paper ticket acceptance will be in place at no extra cost on London Underground / London Overground trains:

Buses replace trains between Eastbourne and Hastings / Ore from Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April

Between London Victoria and Hastings and between Brighton / Eastbourne and Hastings / Ore and also between Eastbourne and Ashford International

Engineering work is taking place between Eastbourne and Hastings, closing all lines.

All day on Friday, Saturday and Monday, no Southern trains will run between Eastbourne and Hastings. On Sunday, no Southern trains will run between Polegate and Hastings.

Replacement buses will run between Polegate / Eastbourne and Hastings / Ore.

Trains which usually run between Eastbourne and Ashford International will be amended to only run between Hastings and Ashford International.

Trains will also be amended to run between London Victoria and Eastbourne and between Brighton and Eastbourne.

From Saturday to Monday, tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on Southeastern trains between Hastings and London.

Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

4 Station updates

Haywards Heath: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between Platform 1 & 2 and the footbridge from now until further notice at Haywards Heath station.
Additional Information:
This affects step free access to and from the multi-storey carpark, and services towards Brighton, Eastbourne, and Littlehampton. Step free access is still available between these platforms and the subway. Please speak to station staff for further assistance
Selhurst: Toilets out of order

The Accessible toilets on platform 1 are out of order at Selhurst station.
Wembley Central: Lifts out of order

The lifts will be out of order between platform 5 and the main concourse from now until further notice at Wembley Central station.

Worthing: Toilets out of order

All toilets on platforms 1 and 2 are out of order at Worthing station.
