Travelling by train is one of the best ways to get to Goodwood. It’s the simplest way to avoid event traffic and get straight to the action without any hassle or parking stress.
Buy a ticket for one of the frequent services into well-connected Chichester railway station, with direct trains from key destinations such as Brighton, Portsmouth, and London. When you arrive, just head for the clearly marked shuttle buses that run regularly between the station and the event entrance.
If you’re going on a day trip to Goodwood from London, hop on a Southern train from London Victoria to Chichester. Journey time is around 1 hour 30 minutes direct, and trains run regularly throughout the day. From Brighton, it only takes 50 minutes, and from Portsmouth it’s a direct service that takes just over half an hour.
Once you arrive at Chichester railway station, the best way to get to the Goodwood site is using a shuttle bus service. For major events like Festival of Speed and Revival, dedicated shuttle buses run from the station straight to the site between 7am and 8pm. These are clearly signposted and timed to match train arrivals.

If you’re going to one of Goodwood’s many family-friendly events, don’t forget that kids can get cheap train tickets. Child train tickets offer significant savings for children aged 5 to 15. Children under 5 travel free with an adult on most routes, making train journeys a family-friendly and cost-effective option.

Date: 9 - 12 July 2026
This is the headline act. Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 9-12 July 2026 and is widely considered one of the biggest motorsport events in the world.
This is where Formula 1 cars, classic racing machines, and cutting-edge supercars all share the same space. The famous hill climb is the centrepiece, with cars racing up the estate’s driveway just metres from the crowd. Around it, you’ll find manufacturer showcases, live demos, and enough horsepower to keep even casual fans hooked.
If you’re only picking one Goodwood event, this is usually the one. It’s big, loud, and genuinely exciting from the moment you arrive.

Date: 28 July - 1 August 2026
Often referred to as “Glorious Goodwood,” the Qatar Goodwood Festival runs from 28 July to 1 August 2026.
This is British summer racing at its most polished. Expect top-tier flat racing, big-name jockeys, and a strong social scene, especially on Ladies’ Day. It’s not just about the races either. Food, fashion, and atmosphere all play a part, making it as much a social event as a sporting one.
If you’re going with friends or planning a slightly dressed-up day out, this is the one that balances spectacle with a bit of occasion.

Date: 18 - 20 September 2026
Goodwood Revival runs from the 18th to the 20th of September 2026 and closes the season in style.
This is less about modern motorsport and more about stepping into a different era. Everything from the cars to the dress code reflects the 1940s to 1960s. Vintage racing takes place on the original circuit, and most attendees fully commit to the theme with period outfits.
It’s immersive, detailed, and unlike anything else in the UK events calendar. Even if you’re not a motorsport fan, the atmosphere alone makes it worth the experience.
