Nymans House

Step back in time with a trip to this traditional country estate, which has been kept unchanged since its last occupants departed in the 1920s.

Nymans was struck by a devastating fire in the middle of the 20th century, leaving behind a trail of atmospheric ruins.

The vast gardens are also well worth exploring, with their collection of exotic plant life and beautiful statues.

Inside, there’s an ever-changing series of exhibitions, entrance to which is usually included in the standard ticket price.

Borde Hill Garden

You’ll find this Grade II English Heritage gardens just five minutes by taxi from the station.

It was created in the early 1900s, with four generations of the same family helping to keep it in the beautiful state you see today.

Backed by Borde Hill House, the grounds are made up of a series of plots each with their own theme.

In the Italian Garden, you’ll find of lily pool with some Mediterranean varieties, while the garden by the old potting shed has more than 500 types of rose.
